NPC Community Trust

The Natal Portland Cement (NPC) established the NPC Community Trust in 2007 to invest towards the development of communities in which it operates.

These are Durban, Newcastle and Port Shepstone. The Trust opted to focus on the two key areas of education and entrepreneurial development as it identified these as major contributors to social and economic development.

Development and Education

NPC Community Trust works with disadvantaged communities in its three focus locations to assist community members with little or no access to opportunities in the areas of entrepreneurial development and education.

Port Shepstone

In Port Shepstone, the Trust has targeted the communities of KwaNdwalane, Oshabeni, KwaNyuswa, and KwaCele/Vukuzithathe.

In Durban, the Trust has targeted the communities of Cato Manor, Mayville, Chesterville, Lamontville and Chatsworth.

Literacy Projects

The Literacy Project (TLP) aims to help struggling readers improve their phonic skills, and to promote learning in a fun, interactive environment.
